Our New Pastor

After an extensive search, Northwest United Protestant Church (Disciples of Christ) unanimously voted on March 2 to call the Rev. Liv Gibbons as the church’s newest senior minister and celebrated her installation on June 8 with the help of Regional Minister Sandy Messick.

Liv grew up at First Christian Church of Eugene, received her BA in Religious Studies from Grinnell College and her MDiv from the University of Chicago. Liv comes to Northwest Church from Lexington, KY, where she served Central Christian Church as their Resident Minister and Minister of Outreach. She brings passion, energy, and compassion to her theological and pastoral work and is delighted to find herself at Northwest, surrounded by such good-hearted people.

While Liv may be Northwest’s first permanent female pastor, she is — perhaps more importantly — also the first blond. The church is, in general, quite pleased to have her on board and good times are being had by all.
